For this review, I slept on the Saatva Classic…Ikea Tvinde Mattress Topper …the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for numerous weeks in my own home. These mattresses were also assessed in our group tests carried out for Wirecutter’s guides to the finest foam mattresses and the best innerspring mattresses. As Wirecutter’s senior staff author for sleep, I’ve interviewed scores of professionals in the bed mattress industry and in products science; checked out dozens of mattress factories, stores, and display rooms; and read the fine print on requirements, warranties, and return policies. Most just recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley examined the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her home for a number of weeks.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g10ThFEgbwIUnderstanding Saatva Saatva’s portfolio of beds– many with an option of firmness levels and dealing with nearly every convenience preference– includes: Saatva Classic ( innerspring).
Loom & Leaf ( all foam).
Zenhaven ( all latex).
Saatva Latex Hybrid ( latex with coils).
Solaire ( a bed with adjustable air chambers). Ikea Tvinde Mattress Topper
Saatva HD ( a latex-coil hybrid developed for sleepers who weigh 300 to 500 pounds).
Saatva Youth ( a foam-coil hybrid for kids ages 3 through 12).
We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “eco-friendly” brands. But we do understand that the company utilizes thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to chemicals or fiberglass) and just organic cotton (instead of artificial blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress companies, Saatva touts such extras as zoned layers for “optimum spinal column assistance”; we’re less satisfied with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer service and resilient foams and coils.
